WORDS WITH A WISEGUY #27 ...

Hello! Thanks for signing up for the blog! If you want to read any of the previous blogs, I usually put them on my website www.travelwithawiseguy.com a couple weeks after I email them here. If you know anyone who might be interested, please have them email me (jwise@goshockers.com) to be added to the list. If you want removed from this list just reply to this email – no hard feelings!

COLORADO TRIP RECAP – UPCOMING VIDEOS

I took a 10-day road trip that was mostly spent in Colorado with a couple days in northwest Kansas. It was an epic adventure! I drove 2439 miles and filmed 14 different videos. Here’s a summary of the videos and the planned released date (I’ve already released 5 of them):

--Forgotten Kansas (2 parts exploring NW Kansas) – 6/28, 7/12

--Colorado Drone Highlights – 6/30

--Colorado Ghost Towns – 7/2

--10 Smallest Towns in Colorado – 7/5

--The Prairie Museum of Art & History (Colby KS) – 7/7

--The Million Dollar Highway & Ouray CO – 7/9

--Colorado State Capitol (Denver) – 7/14

--Lakeside Amusement Park & (abandoned) Speedway – 7/16

--San Juan County & the Alpine Loop – 7/19

--10 Small Town Downtowns in CO – 7/26

--Colorado History Museum (Denver) – 7/28

--Behind-the-scenes of the whole trip – 7/30

--Tiny Town & Railroad (Morrison CO) – TBA, probably in August

I also have two Kansas videos I will release on 7/21 and 7/23.

As you can see I covered a lot of ground. I hope you take a look at the “10 Smallest Towns in Colorado” video released this past Sunday. Also the “San Juan County & Alpine Loop” video should be entertaining as it was some wild driving and I got caught in a hailstorm in the mountains! I tried to get a little bit of everything from The Centennial State. I’ll be releasing the behind-the-scenes video last (July 30), so if you’re interested in where I stayed, the places I ate, and the planning of the trip then that’ll be the video for you.

NEXT BIG TRIP – SOUTH DAKOTA

Instead of one big summer trip like last year, I’m planning multiple shorter trips in 2026. At the end of July I’ll be heading to South Dakota with a couple stops in Nebraska along the way. The core reason for the trip will be to find the 10 smallest towns (by the way they range from a population of 13 down to 2), but I’ll also be looking for ghost towns, scenic adventures, and museums too. If you have any “must-sees” in South Dakota make sure to let me know!

THE BUSINESS OF YOUTUBE

I’m now done with my transition of starting the 2nd channel Wiseguy TOO! as we’ve been monetized there for about a month. So far so good! What I’m hoping to do from here on out is “themed months”. For example July is Colorado month, August will be South Dakota month, and so on. I’ll be sprinkling in videos from my normal favorites like Kansas, Oklahoma, Missouri, etc. throughout those months as well. This is my plan to expand the reach of the channel bit by bit, but also still visiting more local places. Hopefully I’ll be able to do this moving forward and you can look forward to a new state each month!

BEING GUESTS ON OTHER SHOWS

Here are a couple of interviews I’ve done recently. One is long and one is short!

Great Day Colorado (Denver): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bNK0ziLmtEo

One of my efforts to expand the reach of the channel is to be a more frequent guest on other shows and YouTube channels. In the past month I’ve been on a Route 66 podcast, the Great Day Colorado morning show in Denver, and the Dewbey Brothers podcast in Wichita. I also did an interview with PBS Kansas that should air sometime later this summer. Besides promoting this channel, I hope it helps cross-promote who is interviewing me as well. If you have a connection with a show you think I should be on let me know!

WANT EVEN MORE CONTENT? BECOME A MEMBER TODAY!

If you’re not aware, I also have a member section of the channel, where you can get extra behind-the-scenes content every week. We call it Member Mondays! We’re up to 223 members, and they’re the first to know about what’s going on with the channel, where I’ve been exploring, and where I’m going next. We have a lot of fun with these videos, and I like to show a lot of sneak peek clips. The support goes a long way in helping the channel continue to grow! Our next Zoom call will be August 3 for $5 and up members. If you are interested you can learn more on my website: https://www.travelwithawiseguy.com/membership

WANT TO SEND ME SOMETHING?

Sometimes I get asked for my address so someone can send me something. I always show my gifts in the member videos. If you want to send something my address is: John Wise, PO Box 2793, Wichita, KS, 67201.

THAT’S ALL FOLKS!

If you enjoy my channel and want to help it grow, feel free to share videos to your friends and/or family! I also have Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and Twitter/X (Instagram is probably the best to follow). Oh yeah buy some merch! (but only if you want). Info for everything can be found on my website: https://www.travelwithawiseguy.com/

Thanks for all the support and we’ll see you down a backroad!

John Wise
